Bring out your dead….

So, nowadays…. as in past Monty Python and the Holy Grail…. you don’t get your news on the street.   I mean I’m sure you can, lets say if you’re in New Orleans and you want your palm read or see tha poor fellow passing out Guideons on Bourbon, but for the most part, you get your news online.

Now, as an English major, this kind of bothers me, because I am a fan of print.  However, with the advent of the Amazon Kindle, my print only philosophy is changing, and so is how I get my news.

Social Media Releases are a great way to get news.  For me personally, I get them via Facebook.  The way I get my social media releases is by joining groups.  For example, I follow Dan Mullen, Mississippi State’s new head football coach (no relation, I know it sucks), and usually every week or so I get an update from this group in the form of a SMR on my newsfeed.

Other SMR I get I subscribe to.  As I have said before in previous blogs, I am a  big fan of Google Alerts.   However, I not only get releases from Google every morning, I get them from Auburn University–and I am sure ya’ll do too.  Also, William-Sonoma, because of a gift certificate I got my aunt and uncle at Chrismas, sends me news releases daily.  In turn, I guess what I am trying to say, is that social news releases are available from about every avenue of human contact, whether you simply give  your email address or are and avid follower of a group/subscriber like me.
